World of Warcraft Profession Guides: Inscription 1-450

The Inscription profession in World of Warcraft is to be introduced with the release of the expansion Wrath of the Liche King. This profession will work based on adding additional effects to a players spells and abilities. An example of this for example could be adding a dazing effect to a shadowbolt, prehaps a rooting effect added at a fireball, or even adding a dot of some sort to the various bolts. This may also be applicable to healing spells as well, perhaps adding a HoT (Heal Over Time) to a healing spell.

These augmentations will also be applicable to melee combat as well. Pehaps a rooting or dazing effect added to a warrior or rogues abilities.

Furthermore the skill cap is to be increased to 450 for all professions in Wrath of the Liche King.

Recently an inscription spell was discovered in patch 2.4:

Demonic Runes

As you can see it grants an additional damage modifier to a Mage's Fireballs. Also as you can see here, it is rank 3. This leads one to believe that they will be following similar trends as other professions and skills, with increasing power levels.

The fact that this was included in Patch 2.4 says that they are following the same trend of including game information with patches in anticipation of its release. This was seen with Jewelcrafting as well in Patch 2.0.
