I just hit 300 cooking in less then an hour, and all the mats, were available from the vendor. Going to see how far I can get it up. But either way, it's a good way to level cooking, this event.
EDIT: Got to 350 using the recipes. I made a guide for it here Last edited by Spitt; 11-24-2009 at 11:02 PM. |

I have gone ahead and updated my cooking guide to make it a bit easier to read, so here is the old version of my guide. I got from 1 to 355 with this.
First, you need to learn cooking, you can do that at any cooking trainer, there is one available at the area outside at the Pilgrim's Bounty event. Also from the vendors in the event, purchase the Bountiful Cookbook. This will have 5 recipes within, which we will use to raise your cooking skill up. Start with making 100 Spiced Bread (level 1 recipe). You get this skill from the cooking trainer. Learn Recipe: Spice Bread Stuffing (level 1 skill) Make 100 Spice Bread Stuffing. When you hit 75 Cooking, be sure to level up your skill at the trainer. Learn Recipe: Pumpkin Pie (skill 100) Make 100 Pumpkin Pie. When you hit 150 Cooking, be sure to level up your skill at the trainer. Learn Recipe: Cranberry Chutney (skill 160) Make 100 Cranberry Chutney. When you hit 225 Cooking, be sure to level up your skill at the trainer. Learn Recipe: Candied Sweet Potato (skill 220) Make 100 Candied Sweet Potato. You should now be at or around 290 cooking, goto the cooking trainer in Dalaran or Shattarah and learn to be a Master Cook. Learn Recipe: Slow-Roasted Turkey Hunt (or buy off of trade channel) 100 Turkey in either Elwynn Forest or Tirisfal Glades. There are a ton of them, just find a spot for your self. At this point you may also be able to achieve The Turkinator achievement as well. Kill 40 turkeys in a short time. Since they are all level 1, with 2 hp, should be fairly easy for level 30+, as they don't have to worry about the aggro from other mobs. WoW...I got to 100 last night using the Pilgrim stuff in just a couple minutes! I'm gonna max out my paladin's cooking on it tomorrow!

Takes about 90 minutes to hit 350, and around 27 gold. If you do the quests as well, at level 80, then the skillup shouldn't cost too much, if anything.
I wonder if this is Blizzard's way of telling people they need to level cooking. I was already at 450 on my main toon, but just leveled my off toon, to see where it would get me. |

I now have cooking to 300 on all but two of my toons (not counting the 80s) using the world event...some how I over looked the two little toons. It took about an hour and a half per toon mostly because of the number of people killing turkeys and trying to find a mage or run or fly or take a boat. So 16 toons not counting my 80s. There was an 80 screaming about how she couldn't believe you had to have cooking and on and on. I whispered to her, told her to take an hour and get her cooking to 300 then go to Outland and get it to where she could get to 350 and cooking would never be an issue again. Two minutes later I saw her start getting cooking achievements. She was a mage it took her about 25 minutes to get them all. Great way to level cooking then you can get the recipes you want to cook for your level or any level and train for them when you find them. The event wasn't really on my list of likes, but it did serve to help me get my toons cooking, which will eliminate a lot of mailing food back and forth.

Wow, how did you figure the gold? I can't believe I spent that much on each toon. I might believe 15-20g not sure how much it was just too busy getting it over with. 'Course I spent at least that much on ports. Mages made out like bandits just getting tips.
