Here is the breakdown on the best idols for feral druids..
Prior to heroics and your epic flight quest, the best idol hands down is: Idol of the Wild
Another one to be considered is: Idol of Feral ShadowsThis drops off Zereketh the Unbound in Arcatraz.
One of the best ways to increase your dps is to utilize all of your bleeds. This trinket will add 4 damage per combo point to your rip. I have been able to full combo rip within 4-6 seconds due to Primal Fury. That is 20 extra damage per tick on a full combo. At level 70 with medium gear, Rip can do 500 per tick + 20 over 12 seconds. Rip also ignores armor.
Once you start getting heroic badges and complete your epic flight quest here is what you can get:
Everbloom Idol
This is by far the best dps idol in situations where you are dpsing and there is a main tank, i.e. you will almost ALWAYS be behind the target. Cost is 15 heroic badges.
Idol of Terror
This is THE tanking idol. The proc chance is listed at 85%. With cooldown of mangle in mind and the proc %, this will add 4.42% dodge and 2.6% crit for more than 80% of an average boss fight if you use your mangle ability as soon as its available throughout the fight. I would also say this makes the best PvP idol as well. Everbloom is fantastic, but how often can you be sure you will be behind the target. Cost is 20 heroic badges.
Idol of the Raven Goddess
Once you get into your epic flight quest line, you will get this idol as a reward. This is the best idol for situations where you are dpsing in a group of all dps players. The overall bonus to the group is tremendous.
Also keep in mind, you ARE able to switch idols during combat. If you find yourself in bear form, equip the tank trinket, and likewise when in cat. You can also make macros to do this: /equip Idol of Feral Shadows.
