patch

So far so good…

Ever have one of those moments when you finally hit upon the solution to a problem but then realize it’s something you should have figured out a long time before? Yeah, so after booting up with 3.3 this week, my frame rates were terrible after just a few minutes of playing. All week I guessed at what might be wrong until one day I read somewhere about updating drivers. Poof, problem solved. *sigh*

So I haven’t had a chance to try out the new raid yet, but maybe this week I’ll find a generous pug or something. My guild is hobbling at the moment thanks to the holiday season, but we’ll be back on top by the New Year I’m sure. In the meantime, Vorya has been working on his cooking dailies, finally topped off his fishing skill and is about to try out some new specs just for kicks. At this point though, I would like to make a pitch for the random dungeon feature when used at lower levels than 80. Oh it’s great you can get those frost emblems at 80 and such, but you can also get some very nice blue pieces while leveling up by using the random feature. My little gnome warrior did RFC at 16 and came out with a blue belt with 6 sta/str on it! Good luck finding anything that good around that level. The system is also very quick which is nice after the days of sitting in a capital city spamming “lfg Stocks” or whatever only to have a million people tell you that no one wants to run those anymore, blah blah blah. The other thing I like too, is that most of the old world instances are long enough to level you once, especially if you have the rested xp available. That’s great for getting through a difficult level hump when there just aren’t many quests for you at your level.

*salute*

Patch Day 3.3

I for one, am excited about this patch as there just seems to be a ton of new stuff being implemented for everyone. If you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple months then I highly suggest you head over to mmo-champion or wow.com, or even the official forums to catch up on all juicy goodness found in the patch notes.

Of course, this all comes at a price in the amount of at least several hours of maintenance, plus any extra because of new bugs and stuff like that. The good news is that since the Icecrown raid is gated, we’re not going to see the top few guilds scrambling to show everyone else up in the first 24 hours. Lame.

I will have plenty more to say next week I’m sure after I’ve gotten a chance to really run the new content and whatnot. For now though, my car needs an oil change……….
