Details Known So Far Of WoW Cataclysm

Blizzard has announced their next expansion for World of Warcraft. There is still a lot that has not been said about the new expansion, however some things have been announced.

Here is a breakdown of what we know so far:

Level Cap Increase

The level cap is being increased to level 85, but its likely it will be a more challenging leveling process than before. It was stated that they wanted it to feel like a real accomplishment to level.

New Secondary Profession: Archaeology

Possible benefits announced:

You will have an Archaeology Journal to track your finds. You will collect Artifacts to decipher possible stories (examples and rewards unknown). It could possibly be a mini-game in itself. You will be able to unlock secret travel passages throughout the world. It will possibly unlock new vanity pets, new titles, and unique recipes for crafting professions.

Runeforging:

This will grant you the ability to re-forge and customize your gear. It will allow you to re-allocate stats. For example take away Stamina and apply those points to Strength. Another example mentioned is to re-allocate between hit and critical hit.

Profession leveling:

The way you get skill up points is being modified:  For example one item will possibly give 5 skill points instead of 1 point.

Gathering Professions:

Will possibly get better perks.

Engineering:

Will get more pets, toys, gadgets, convenience items such as repair bots, wormhole generator, etc.

Fishing

“Big changes that can’t be talked about to make it more fun.”

Changes to Azeroth

Classic lands of Azeroth will be revamped in the expansion as well, and will allow flying mounts.

Class Changes

Warlock and Hunter classes are getting huge changes. For example: soul bags will no longer be needed by warlocks.

Item stats will be greatly modified. Defense, Spellpower, Armor Penetration, etc, are being removed. Spirit will no longer be used by any class but Priests.

New Races

Goblins will now be a Horde race. Worgen will now be an Alliance race.
