Patch 4.0.1 – Opinions?

The new 4.0.1 patch has everyone in an uproar. People are upset, and I don’t blame them. A lot are leaving the game. I completely understand. I logged on to my warlock (Thamelas), and checked out the changes. First off, I feel the new talent trees are a bit limiting. I can see where locking people into one talent tree can prevent new players from just picking talents without knowing what they are doing. However, isn’t that part of the fun? Learning and discovering how things work. This new talent system has taken away all individuality and customization, and in its place left a choice of three cookie-cutter specs. Just for testing I set up my Warlock’s talents for demonology, and spent some time at the training dummy in Ironforge. The resulting DPS was almost double what my damage was before the new patch, and that’s even with me having no clue as to a new spell rotation or cast sequence.
I haven’t logged into my Pally tank (Hoofman) yet, but my Pally friend’s tell me that Pally tanking is a train wreck. I have a Holy Pally friend that says that they’ve ruined his healing to the point that he is consistently at the bottom of the healing meters.
I’ll be honest, I haven’t ran anything at all yet; no raids or heroics. I’m rather apprehensive. My raid group normally does ICC on Tuesday nights, and I’m rather curious to see how things go…if we go at all now.
What is everyone else’s thoughts on the new patch?
