Patch Day 3.3

I for one, am excited about this patch as there just seems to be a ton of new stuff being implemented for everyone. If you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple months then I highly suggest you head over to mmo-champion or wow.com, or even the official forums to catch up on all juicy goodness found in the patch notes.

Of course, this all comes at a price in the amount of at least several hours of maintenance, plus any extra because of new bugs and stuff like that. The good news is that since the Icecrown raid is gated, we’re not going to see the top few guilds scrambling to show everyone else up in the first 24 hours. Lame.

I will have plenty more to say next week I’m sure after I’ve gotten a chance to really run the new content and whatnot. For now though, my car needs an oil change……….

So, is it really happening today??? Cool!

What do you mean by “gated” in reference to the new raid?

They will be releasing the Icecrown raid content a little bit at a time. Only the first few bosses will be available right now, then in a few more weeks we’ll see the next few, then the last ones even later than that. In addition, there will be a limited number of attempts at certain bosses (like the Heroic Coliseum) that will grow as time goes on. Furthermore, in order to even attempt a heroic mode you have to have beaten the regular version first, and to attempt the Lich King on heroic, you have to have beaten every heroic mode already during that raid lockout. Complicated? Maybe, but it will keep people from overrunning the place, as well as expand this content to last us until Cataclysm sometime next year hopefully. :)

wow, that is a little complicated! lol

Sounds cool though! I’m looking forward to trying the new LFG interface. I logged on tonight, but didn’t try it yet.

The looting thing sounds weird. the whole DE vs greed roll, what do you think about that?

Part of me actually thinks that people are making a mountain out of a molehill with that new feature. After all, a lot of people now will just be running instances randomly for emblems, not gear, even if they are fairly new to 80. Also, a lot of people are in guilds that hopefully can help do enchants and stuff so desperately rolling on shards in a dungeon isn’t such a big deal anymore either. I don’t think it’s a bad feature but it doesn’t excite me either.

I hadn’t really thought of it that way, sorry I was contributing to the molehill! oops!
