Gearscore

In Wrath, along with Blizzard’s attempts to make sure people don’t get left behind in content, has come the fad of gear checking. While this has produced a good way of putting PUG’s together, it presents the problem of “How do I know I’m ready for this content?”. Along with gear checking has come “gearscore”. With gearscore you can track how your or someone else’s gear will perform in relation to the content. Gearscore comes in two flavors, WoW-Heroes.com and a GearScore addon. WoW-Heroes.com looks at gear and enchants, while the GearScore addon just looks at the gear itself. The makers of these gear checking tools have conveniently made charts showing how a person’s score stacks up with the content. Using these tools, you can gear check for your PUG’s and make sure you are up to par with the content at hand!

You gotta be really careful with PUG’s. Using gear check can really save you some massive headaches in raids.

I can see the need for gearscore, however I was just now rejected from a 10 man OS group on my Holy Paladin, which has a mix of Naxxramas 10 items and all 5 Tier 9 parts – plus whatever I could get from Emblem of Triumph.
Even my 10 Man Twilight Zone achievement from January 2009 could convince the Raid Leader that my gear was indeed more than enough for OS10.
